Dr. Frank Buono is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. Trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (MA/PhD, Southern Illinois University) and a Yale postdoctoral fellow, he brings both scientific expertise and lived experience to his work. Diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) at age nine, he has a unique perspective on the physical and psychological challenges of rare disease. His research focuses on chronic pain and its impact in individuals with NF, supported by funding from the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, the Children’s Tumor Foundation, and other private organizations.
