Every patient at The Krasner Institute begins with assessment because the right plan depends on getting the picture right the first time. We offer three levels of assessment, calibrated to the complexity of the question you bring us. Our first conversation helps us recommend the right starting point.

Levels of Assessment

Level 1: Focused Consultation

A targeted evaluation for a specific, well-defined question.

Best when you need an expert second opinion, a medication review, or clarity on a single diagnostic question. You meet directly with Dr. Krasner or a senior clinician, who reviews your history, examines the current presentation, and delivers a clear, actionable opinion.

You receive: a structured clinical impression and concrete next-step recommendations.
Timeline: typically completed within one to two visits.

Level 2: Comprehensive Assessment

Our signature evaluation. The standard pathway for most new patients.

When a presentation is layered or prior treatment hasn’t worked, a single appointment can’t capture the whole picture. The Comprehensive Assessment brings our integrated team to bear: psychiatric evaluation, collateral from family and prior providers, and structured measurement, synthesized into one coherent formulation and plan.

You receive: an enriched DSM-5 diagnosis with integrated narrative, a written formulation, and a coordinated treatment plan.
The family is part of it: we treat the patient in full context, not as a list of symptoms.
Timeline: completed over several coordinated sessions.

Level 3: Intensive Assessment Program

Our most thorough evaluation, for the most complex cases.

When a child, teen, or young adult has been through multiple treatments without lasting results, or when the stakes are high and the diagnostic question is genuinely hard, the Intensive Assessment Program mobilizes the full interdisciplinary team over a concentrated period. It can incorporate neuropsychological testing, educational assessment, and interventional psychiatric evaluation as the case requires.

You receive: a complete diagnostic formulation, a longitudinal treatment roadmap, and care coordination across every clinician involved.
Best for: diagnostic uncertainty, treatment resistance, or transitions where getting it right matters most.

Common Questions

Yes. Both the Cadillac and Hybrid include a school-ready summary. Core assessments support treatment within the clinic, with the option to step up if school documentation is needed.

Depending on the referral question: cognitive (WISC/WAIS), attention/executive (CPT, rating scales), learning/achievement (WIAT), personality/emotional instruments (MMPI, PAI, projectives). No cookie-cutter batteries—testing is always tailored.

The psychiatrist and psychologist review interviews, testing data, rating scales, and family assessment together. Their integrated formulation is then translated into a treatment plan.

We can escalate from Core → Hybrid → Cadillac if new questions emerge, without repeating prior work.
